MEMORIES OF RON ~ DEREK

Grandpa had a golf cart that he used on occasion to get around the property, and while we were visiting, he would sometimes let my sister and I drive it. We didn't have the best concept of safety at the time, but we knew what was fun. We'd drive down long straightaways, jump out of the cart while it was still moving, run along side it, then jump back in, and immediately have to turn, which took the cart off of two wheels due to the speed we were moving.

At one point, we ended up hitting a standalone fence post, which broke the plastic covering between the wheels. My sister and I panicked, thinking we had just broken the cart, and tried to patch the plastic pieces together again with electrical tape.  We then drove it carefully back up to the house and parked it, thinking that no one would notice our patch job. Grandpa never mentioned it to us, but looking back now, there's no way he didn't know.
