MEMORIES OF RON ~ JODY

As young children Derek and I would come to church with my grandparents when they were watching us. I was too young to understand what was going on but I figured out the routine after a few times. I knew my grandpa would sit behind the man at the front and they would both wear a white robe. It seemed pretty important. Of course my grandpa always took it seriously and loved serving but at the same time he would notice me watching him. He would always make faces at me, wink at me, and make me laugh until my grandma sitting next to me would laugh and tell me to quiet down because we were being distracting.

For all the years we had together after that, whenever he noticed I was looking in his direction he would always wink at me, make faces, and make me laugh exactly as he used to. Even through events like giving a speech at graduation to my grandma's memorial party, there was never an inopportune time to make me smile.
